I know there are eve haters, but this is an interesting merge of a fps tieing directly into its mmo parent.

Been keeping an eye on it. Hopefully it doesn't stay console only.

There's also going to be micro-transactions of some kind, and at release the player limit per fight will be "no less than 64." Apparently they're starting small and working their way up.

Other than that it sounds pretty cool though

CCP are easily the greatest Dev house on the planet, shame EVE never appealled to more people. Dust does look good, however.

The game play footage at the 2k9 CCP fanfest was absolutely dtunning. This is really the game that Planetside should have evolved in to. Persistent worlds where the outcome of taking territory actually affects the world around you. Every corp in Dust is essentially a merc force that can be hired by Eve online Alliances/corps and even form alliances of their own with Eve players. The games will be fully functional as stand alone games but the ability to merge two types of MMO into a single universe will truly be revolutionary.
The visuals look awesome and demo game play footage is very promising. The fact that corps/alliances actually grow as they achieve objectives and get War Barges(this is my war barge. There are many like it, but this one is my own) that allow them to assault and conquer different planets makes this game awesome. Imagine actually getting paid to take and hold Dagda against enemy forces :)

Really eager to see what CCP cooks up with this game. Their dedication to making MMOs evolve rather than just tossing out expansions for more $$$ is what keeps them ahead of the curve in the designer market. They may not make the most friendly games to get players into, but they really do give you an experience you keep coming back to.

The micro transactions were planned to be a type of *booster pack* of blueprints for weaponry for your corp to build and use, but CCP already stated the absolute best tech will only be abvailable to players who are playing teh game and achiving in-game objectives. Think of it as having a few peeps building Lashers for our PvPers to use in PS, rather than just running up to a terminal and loading the same loadout non-stop. It'll mean that as we earn War Points(in-game currency) we will be able to enter combat as a more advanced strike force with better Tech.

Upon which you'll give it to me and I'll charge in, die and lose it! Yay!

This game is sounding more and more awesome, ain't it a long way off though?

I'll still pass for the sole reason it is a console only game... I have a PS3 but quite frankly FPS's and MMO's are so much better on a PC.

However, they have Trademarked the game for PC, so there is hope.
