View Full Version : Fantasy Football League Discussion
To keep the shout box from breaking - and prevent Shock's public humiliation this week, let's have all FF discussion here.
I don't have an issue with Lynch or Marshall's character - although Marshall has be harmed by it in the past. My problem with them is their situations. Marshall has as much talent as any WR in the league and Lynch, after his rookie year, looked like a perennial #1 RB. Unfortunately, under McDaniels, the Broncos haven't yet got their passing game really going and under Dick Jauron the Bills haven't got anything going offensively. To make matters worse for Lynch, during his suspension Jackson proved that he deserves more touches per game and those are obviously now coming at Lynch's expense.
I don't think either player is better than #20th at their respective positions. But that's just my assessment.

didnt even see you put this up earlier.....and since lynch has come back hes produced more TOTAL yards than jackson, thats including receiving...and at the end of the day whoever is moving their offensive drives will get more touches.
as for marshall, i dunno....if the broncos keep playing like they were thats easy points every game with his jazzy moves

and i think hightowers job is safe, hes still making receptions which is good for more points and keeps his overall worth up. short yardage (goal line) hes still their main man, wells can bring them down the field, put in hightower for the easy 6 points for me. *shrug*

Nah you're missing my point. I agree Lynch is the better back - the issue is the fact that he's no longer the only back. Jackson is seeing far more touches than he did before Lynch's suspension and I really believe that's the way they'll continue going forward. Until Lynch once again becomes the feature back (like AP, Chris Johnson, Cedric Benson etc) then in that offense (their line is terrible and their passing game is worse) he won't have much value.
Marshall is a different case - he is the #1 guy and I've owned him in each of the last two years - I just don't like his inconsistency. He's not a guy like Andre Johnson or Reggie Wayne or DeSean Jackson who'll never disappear. Those guys will always get you something and at the end of the season it's consistency that counts.
Hightower isn't going to be benched (ala Slaton) any time soon. I just think that moving forward you're going to be seeing more Wells and that obviously means less Hightower. As you said, he's still getting his receptions and since our league is PPR he's definitely got value - I just don't think his is rising any more. He's never going to be a 20-25 touch a game #1 back.

i hate how i put up with like 3 weeks of crap points from keller, then bench him and he get 21. so annoyning lol.
dart still want ryan grant for ray rice? :P
Yeah... you really should've taken that trade!
I'm busy trying to get hold of some TEs. I had Owen Daniels in 2 of my 4 leagues!!
I am still in the market for a #1 WR (Fitzgerald, Moss, Colston, Welker, V. Jackson etc) if anyone is in need of a RB. I've got Rice, Brown, LT and Cedric Benson to choose from...
Ok, want chad back if i get sims-walker AND one of those 3?

Sims-Walker only has 40 points less than Chad! And Chad isn't imo in the same bracket as Reggie Wayne et al. Sims-Walker + Julius Jones for Ochocinco. Two guys with 90 points for one with 125.

only thing i TRULY think i need is a top notch receiver, same boat dart is in.
ill consider all offers (children included)
my question is which has more value, a #1 receiver on a crappy team, or a #2 receiver on a fantastic team?
ie: Antonio Bryant-TB vs. devery henderson-NO (actually is henderson even the #2? does no even have a #2?)

In a 10 team league neither has much consistent value - however that's not to say that if you play the matchups carefully you can't get fantasy production out of a combination of players like that. But they don't have a lot of trade value.
In terms of the NOLA WR depth chart (and this is something I know quite a lot about) the team doesn't really have a #2. Colston plays about 72% of our offensive snaps which is by far the most. Henderson starts opposite and is on the field for the second highest number of snaps however the 'starter' tag is rather misleading because Lance Moore (when healthy) receives more targets in the red zone and in 3 receiver sets than Henderson. Meachem is a big play guy and also the best run blocking WR so he's the guy in most 1 WR sets.

sent you an offer shock, since dart is obviously hallucinating, thinking that the giants steve smith isn't a top teir receiver even though he led the league in catches AND yards at one point in the season already.(not even 3 weeks ago)
Smith hasn't had a big game since Week 4. I'm not going to say any more because I don't want to shit on any deal you might make with Sh0ck but rest assured there are good reasons I'm trading away Smith in the two leagues in which I own him.
You do have a receiver I like Venom, but only one.

if you wanted welker you should've drafted him, i've had him 4 years straight including when he was a miami dolphin so i'm not about to trade him now.
and i dont know what the hell you're talking about, with manningham out, smith is top dawg in the NYG organization by far. hes a consistent 15-20 ppg performer and thats much better than having a few good games.

shock i dont have all month make up your mind on the trade one way or another.

Whatchu talkin' bout Willis?
Smith's scores this season - in sequence, in our league - are:
14
29.4
19.3
36.4
10<-- the game when teams started treating him as a legit #1 and putting special coverages on him
8.4
10.9
14.8
Welker and Smith aren't even close in production atm. In the last 3 weeks Welker has put up TWICE the numbers that Smith has and he was on a freakin' bye week last week!
Smith (and the Giants receivers in general) also have a really bad FF playoff schedule down the stretch. By 14 Derrick Mason will have replaced Smith in your line-up.

this is one thing you always fail to remember.
when the schedule gets tough, receivers perform even more, why? because if they are down in the 3rd and 4th quarter, they throw every single down.
