MMO looks like it has potential if the relatively small developing crew can get it finished and fixed.
Highlights of the features:
1. Procedurally generated universe. Mathematical formulas will generate the Stars (sizes of stars, red dwarfs etc), the solar systems for each star, the moons of each planet in the solar system, and other objects that can orbit. Their system for generating the universe makes it possible for up to 200 billion star systems within the game. More than you can ever attempt to see. The orbital patterns will be in real time. You can fly to a system, fly away, come back a 200 days later and the system will be in a different location due tot he orbit.
2. Twitch based combat. Fighting in the game depends on your skill as a player, not stats. Don't worry about grinding weapon skills or anything so you can stand a fighting chance. If you're a bad-ass fighter pilot, go kill some shit... basically.
3. No RPG class/leveling system. You'll have to read their site (posted below) for more on how the actual game will work as far as character progression.
4. Seamless world. Travel from one star system to another and then descend into the atmosphere of a planet (real planets, scaled to be realistically large) and explore the surface, all without loading screens.
5. Questing is different than EVERY MMO out there. Main storyline quests can only be done by a player/group of players once. It is never able to be done again by anyone else.
6. Get rich enough, buy a planet. Get powerful enough, conquer a star system.
7. Your characters back story and available missions will be generated by the things you do. Do you answer a distress transmission or is it possible its an ambush set up by an enemy?
All I can say is read through the website yourself and see if you like what you're reading. There is also a combat prototype available for download, but it is very unpolished.
Some visuals, city test render (Very unpolished in terms of textures, etc):
